How crypto profit is calculated
Your gross result is the price difference times the number of coins. Fees are charged on both the opening and closing notional, so they get subtracted to leave net profit. ROI compares that net result to the value of the position when you opened it.
Typical crypto exchange fees
| Account / order type | Maker fee | Taker fee |
|---|---|---|
| Standard spot (most exchanges) | 0.10% | 0.10% |
| High-volume / VIP tier | 0.02% | 0.04% |
| Perpetual futures (typical) | 0.02% | 0.05% |
| Premium / instant buy | 0.50% | 0.50% |
Frequently Asked Questions
Profit is the difference between exit and entry price multiplied by the number of coins, minus the trading fees charged on both the opening and closing trade.
Yes. Select Short and the calculator inverts the price difference, so a lower exit price produces a profit and a higher exit price produces a loss.
The fee percentage is charged on both the entry notional and the exit notional, then subtracted from your gross result to give net profit or loss.
ROI is your net profit divided by the value of the position at entry, shown as a percentage so you can compare trades of different sizes fairly.
