GBP/JPY Signals for One of the Most Volatile Crosses

GBP/JPY combines the pound's sensitivity to UK data with the yen's reaction to global risk, which is why its daily ranges regularly dwarf those of EUR/USD. That volatility is what draws traders to the pair and what punishes a careless stop. Every GBP/JPY stop sits beyond the latest ten-candle swing and can extend to two and a half average candles, and on 30m and slower charts it must be at least about nineteen pips from entry.

Fast crosses tempt late entries: by the time a GBP/JPY breakout is obvious, much of the move has often happened. The rules decline a setup whenever price has already run more than one average candle from its 20-period mean, so a real-time signal on this pair is never simply a reaction to the last big candle. What is published instead is a plan with the stop and all four targets fixed before you commit.

A 40-pip stop is ordinary rather than unusual on GBP/JPY, so a lot size carried over from EUR/USD can double or triple the money at risk.
