Funded Trading Plus MT5 EA Running an ICT Smart Money Model

ICT trading takes its bias from market structure on a higher timeframe and its entry from a faster chart, and the EA maps the order blocks, fair value gaps and killzones behind that read in real time. Funded Trading Plus measures its 6% maximum overall loss as a trailing drawdown on several programs, with a 4% daily loss sitting inside it on the Experienced 1-Step. A trailing floor moves with the account, so the room you have left is never a fixed number you can set once and forget. The EA recalculates that room against the current floor before every entry, which shrinks position size automatically as the account moves rather than after a breach, and it throttles in a zone above the daily line instead of running into the hard limit. You still set the risk per trade, and trading carries risk of loss.

35% consistency rule

Funded Trading Plus 35% Consistency Rule and EA Risk Spreading

Funded Trading Plus caps any single day at 35% of total evaluation profit, and one outsized winning day can quietly disqualify an account that is otherwise in profit. The EA is built around that consistency rule. Instead of swinging for one big session, it spreads risk across setups with even, repeatable position sizing, so no single day runs away with the profit target and the cap is respected by construction rather than by luck. Before the first order you enter that program's daily and overall drawdown, profit target and news-window hours, while the 35% cap itself is kept by the sizing. A steady day can still be a losing day, because trading carries risk of loss.

Funded Trading Plus: EA policy & simulated accounts

Funded Trading Plus is a proprietary-trading challenge provider, not a licensed broker. Here is what it says about running an EA and what "funded" actually means on its accounts.

  • Funded Trading Plus is not a regulated broker or investment firm; its evaluation and "FT+ Trader" accounts are 100% simulated, and it describes itself as an R&D firm studying trading strategies rather than a licensed financial institution. Verify licensing status yourself before assuming any regulatory protection applies.
  • Expert Advisors are permitted on its MT4, MT5 and cTrader accounts as long as they are not arbitrage, grid, martingale, HFT/latency-arbitrage or cross-account copy-trading systems; abusive automation can trigger a manual risk review or an account breach, and FT+ does not provide support for third-party EAs.
  • Payouts come from a simulated profit split (not from trading real market capital directly), and an account is breached if no trade is opened and closed within any 30-day period: factor that into how you schedule an EA on a challenge account.
  • Running any EA or API integration is entirely at the account holder's own risk and responsibility; FT+ states it accepts no liability for EA malfunctions, compatibility issues or losses caused by third-party automation.

What to weigh before you run any EA on a funded-challenge account.

  • Challenge providers are largely unregulated: they are not licensed brokers, don't register with the CFTC or NFA, and you trade simulated capital under a fee-for-service contract, not a protected brokerage account.
  • Because they aren't brokers, funds aren't segregated client money and there is no FSCS / SIPC-style deposit protection if a firm delays payouts or ceases operating.
  • The CFTC's 2023 case against “My Forex Funds” (later dismissed on procedural grounds in 2025) alleged the firm secretly traded against its own funded clients, an illustration of the counterparty conflict built into the challenge-fee model.
  • Platform access is a live risk: from February 2024 MetaQuotes revoked MT4 / MT5 licences from brokers grey-labelling to prop firms over US-regulatory exposure, stranding some firms' accounts through no fault of the trader.

  • The FCA (UK) and ASIC (Australia) cap retail CFD leverage from 30:1 down to 2:1 and require negative-balance protection: a hard limit on the exposure any EA can take on a retail account.
  • Regulators consistently report that most retail CFD accounts lose money; automating the entries does not change that base rate.

US persons face a distinct set of rules for automated forex, futures and securities trading, and a specific regulator advisory aimed at trading bots.

  • The CFTC's advisory “AI Won't Turn Trading Bots into Money Machines” names automated-bot and AI-signal scams directly: one fake-AI forex-bot case ended in a $3.4 billion judgment.
  • Retail off-exchange forex dealers must register with the CFTC and be NFA Forex Dealer Members; soliciting retail forex orders, including for an automated system, requires NFA registration.
  • The SEC, NASAA and FINRA jointly warn that a phrase like “our proprietary AI system can't lose” signals an unregistered scheme, not legitimate automation.
  • FINRA Rule 3110 makes member firms supervise, test and register the people behind an algorithmic strategy: the institutional bar for 'supervised' automated trading.
