MEXC: licence status & bot policy

MEXC is a large offshore crypto exchange with an unusual API-bot policy: check its Seychelles registration status and its own automated-trading rules before connecting any EA or bot to it.

  • MEXC's operating entity is registered in Seychelles; in May 2026 the Seychelles Financial Services Authority publicly named MEXC's Seychelles entity (MX Global Ltd) as operating without the licence required under the Seychelles VASP Act. Regulators in Belgium, the Netherlands and elsewhere have also issued warnings or restrictions against MEXC, so treat it as effectively unregulated in most jurisdictions rather than licensed.
  • MEXC's own support article states it restricts unauthorized bot and API trading for retail users to protect market fairness; broad API/automated-trading access is described as primarily for institutional accounts that pass a separate KYB/qualification review, not a standard retail feature.
  • When API access is granted, never enable withdrawal permission on the API key used by an EA or bot: restrict it to trading (and IP-whitelist it if possible) so a compromised key cannot move funds off the exchange.
