Kraken is a licensed exchange in multiple jurisdictions, not a single global regulator, and it explicitly permits API-driven trading bots. Check the account and key setup before connecting an EA.

  • Kraken is registered as a Money Services Business with FinCEN in the US, holds a MiCA licence from the Central Bank of Ireland covering the EEA, is FCA-registered in the UK, AUSTRAC-registered in Australia, and holds additional registrations in Canada and other jurisdictions: coverage varies by country, so check which entity serves your region.
  • Kraken's own support pages state clients are welcome to use trading bots, and its Institutional API lets strategies run fully automated once an API key is created: automation itself is not against Kraken's terms.
